HOPE | "Knit" was the New York Times' word of the day recently, as the word (and derivations) appeared in—wait for it—445 different articles over the past year. From pussy hats to communities banding together, we're pretty sure the rise of knitting as a pass-time and as a prevalent concept in the zeitgeist can only mean good things. Fight on, Knit Wits.  (The Learning Network)

SKEINS | Related: Craftivism is on the rise. People are hosting parties to paint, print or scrawl clever posters and—more our speed—hosting knit nights to make hats. It gives us all the feels. That said, there's a conversation about inclusion and color theory to be had here. What we do know: you will never see us in hot pink, but we are staunchly pro-blush and pro-beige. (Little Dandelion via Purl Soho, also The New Yorker)

WRITING | Our gal Francesca Capone (an issue one contributor and everything) combines two of our favorite things into her work: weaving and writing. Her latest show will coincide with a publication release of the same name, Text means Tissue. Check it/her out at Nationale if you happen to be in or around Portland, OR. (Francesca Capone)
