8 3.5oz/100g (109y/99m) balls of Plymouth Arequipa Boucle (baby alpaca/nylon) in color #102 Taupe

Needles

US 9 (5.5mm) 16” and 24”/40.5cm and 61cm circular needle, or sizes needed to get gauge
US 10.5 (6.5mm) 24” and 32”/61cm and 81cm circular needle
US 10.5 (6.5mm) double pointed needles dpns (optional)

SHORT ROW WRAP & TURN (W&T)
Knit side (Purl side)
1. Wyif (wyib), slip the next stitch purlwise.
2. Bring the yarn to back (front) of work between the needles.
3. Slip stitch from right needle back to the left. Turn your work.

PICK UP WRAP

With right needle, pick up wrap from front to back, insert right needle knitwise into stitch that is wrapped, knit the stitch and wrap together.

M1L

With left hand needle, pick up the horizontal bar between stitches from front to back, knit through the back loop—1 st inc’d.

M1R

With left hand needle, pick up the horizontal bar between stitches from back to front, knit through the front loop—1 st inc’d.

SWEATER

With smaller needle, CO 62 sts for neckband. Join for working in the round and pm for beg of round.

Rnd 1 *K1, p1; rep from * to end of round. Repeat this round until work measures 1”/2.5cm from CO edge, then set up for sleeve/body increases as follows:

Setup Rnd With larger needle, k23 sts, pm, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1, pm, k21, pm, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1.

Short Row Shaping
NOTE The following section is worked back and forth in rows.

Row 1 K, m1L, k to 3 sts before marker, w&t— 1 st inc’d.
Row 2 P to 4 sts before marker, w&t.
*Row 3 K to 3 sts before wrapped stitch, w&t.
Row 4 P to 3 sts before wrapped stitch, w&t. Repeat from * once more.
NOTE Continue working in the round, picking up wraps as you come to them.

Inc Rnd 1 K to 1 st before marker, m1R, k1, sm, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1, sm, k1, m1L, k to 1 sts before marker, m1R, k1, sm, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1—66 sts.
Inc Rnd 2 **K1, m1L, k to 1 st before marker, m1R, k1, sm, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1, sm, rep from ** once more—4 sts inc’d.
Repeat Inc Rnd 2 ten times more for a total of 12 increase rounds—110 sts.

Shape Sleeve Cap

Setup Rnd **K to m, sm, m1L, pm, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1, pm, m1R, sm; repeat from ** to end of round—4 sts inc’d (11 per sleeve).

Increase Rnd 1 **K to m, sm, m1L, k to marker, sm, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1, sm, k to marker, m1R, sm, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1, sm; repeat from ** once more. Repeat round 5 (0, 0) times— 134 (186, 114) sts.

Next Rnd Work in pat, slipping markers as you come to them.

***Increase Rnd 2 **K1, m1L, k to 1 st before marker, m1R, k1, sm, m1L, k to marker, *p1, k1; rep from * 4 times, p1, sm, k to marker, m1R, sm; repeat from ** once more—8 sts inc’d.

Next Rnd Work in pat, slipping markers as you come to them. Repeat from *** 6 (11, 12) times—182 (202, 210) sts. Repeat inc round 1 every other round 2 (0, 0) more times, ending after plain pat round—190 (202, 210) sts.

Next Rnd Work in pattern, slipping markers as you come to them. Rep from *** once—218 sts.

Divide for Sleeves Next Rnd *K to marker, rm, place 33 (33, 35) sleeve stitches and markers on waste yarn or holder.

Using cable method, CO 2 (3, 3) sts, pm, CO 2 (3, 3) sts, repeat from * once more—132 (148, 160) sts on needles.

Rnds 1 and 2 Knit.
Rnd 3 K1, m1L, k1, m1L, k to 2 sts before marker, *m1R, k1; rep from * twice, sm, k1, m1L, k1, m1L, k to 2 sts before marker, *m1R, k1; rep from * twice.—140 (156, 168) sts.

Body

Continue in St st until work measures 7” from underarm.
Next Rnd *K1, p1; rep from * to end of round.
Repeat this row until bottom ribbing measures 4”. BO loosely in pattern.

Sleeves

Setup Rnd Beginning at underarm, pick up and knit 4 (6, 6) sts to close gap. Work 33 (33, 35) sleeve stitches in pattern from holder onto needles. Knit 2 (3, 3) sts to join round, pm for beg of round—37 (39, 41) sts.

Rnd 1 K1, ssk, k to marker, sm, *p1, k1; rep from * to 1 st before marker, p1, sm, k to 3 sts before end of round, k2tog, k1—35 (37, 39) sts.

Rnd 2 Work in pattern. Repeat round 2 until work measures 1 (1, 2)”/2.5 (2.5, 5)cm from underarm.

Rnd 3 *K1, p1; rep from * until 3 sts remain, k2tog, p1—34 (36, 38) sts.

Rnd 4 *K1, p1; rep from * to end of round. Repeat last round 3 times more. BO loosely in pattern.

Finishing

Weave in ends, closing any gaps at underarm.

SKIRT

NOTE Skirt worked flat to button band. Do NOT join until noted.

With smaller 24”/61cm needle, CO 83 (95, 109, 121) sts.

Begin Buttonholes

Row 1 (RS) Sl2 wyib, k1, p1, yoyo, *k1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2 Sl2 wyif, *p1, k1; rep from * to 6 sts before end of row. Drop one yo loop, ssk, p1, k1, p1.
Row 3 Sl2 wyib, *k1, p1; rep from * to end of row, k1.
Row 4 Sl2 wyif, *p1, k1; rep from * to end of row, p1. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until work measures 2.5"/6cm from CO edge.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 once.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 once.

Change to larger needle, repeating rows 3 & 4 until work measures 5"/12.5cm from CO edge, ending with row 4.

Next Row (RS) Sl2 wyib, work in pat for 19 (21, 25, 29) sts, Kfb, pm, k1, kfb, work in pat for 35 (43, 49, 53) sts, Kfb, k1, pm, kfb, work in pat to end of row—87 (99, 113, 125) sts. Next Row Sl2 wyif, *p1, k1; rep from * to marker, sm, p1, work in pat to 1 st before marker, p1, sm, work in pat to end of row. Next Row Sl2 wyib, k1, p1, yoyo, *work in pat to 1 st before marker, kfb, sm, kfb; rep from * twice, work in pat to end of row—91 (103, 117, 129) sts. Work rows 2-4, maintaining pat and slipping markers as they come.

Button Band
NOTE Prep to work the following in the round.

Next Rnd (RS) *K1, p1; rep from * 3 times, k1. Sl previous 7 sts on spare needle, work in pat to last 7 sts.

Next Rnd Place spare needle with 7 held sts parallel in front of last 7 sts on LH needle. *K tog first st on front needle with first st on back needle, p tog next stitch on front needle with next stitch on back needle, repeat from * until all sts on spare needle have been worked, p1, pm for beginning of round—84 (96, 110, 122) sts. Work in pattern for two rounds.

Waist Shaping

Rnd 1 (inc rnd) Work in pat to 1 st before marker, kfb, sm, k1, kfb, work in pat until 2 sts before marker, kfb, k1, sm, kfb, work in pat to end of round—4 sts inc’d.
Rnd 2 Work in pat to marker, sm, k, work in pat to 1 st before marker, k1, sm, work in pat to end of round.
Repeat rounds 1 and 2 seven times more—116 (128, 142, 154) sts.
Continue to work in pat until piece measures 21.75 (22, 23, 23.5)”/55 (56, 58.5, 59.5)cm from CO edge. BO Loosely in pattern.

Finishing

Weave in ends. Sew buttons to button band to correspond with buttonhole openings. Block gently.
